When the topic of immunizations comes up it usually becomes about whether to vaccinate or not. Discussing the current evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of vaccines in depth goes beyond the scope of this article.
I am going to refer you to some web sites. The website that supports vaccination and it’s purpose to achieve global immunization is www.vaccines.org. The National Vaccine Information Center can be found at www.909shot.com. It is a non-profit organization that supports the right of citizens to exercise informed consent and make educated, independent vaccination decisions for themselves and their children.
I see vaccination as a much deeper issue. I believe it is opportunities re examine your philosophy on health. Most people have never had to experience how powerful the body really is. In times of need they search outside themselves for solutions. And science has been there to save them. This never-ending story of being victimized leaves us at the mercy of modern technology for our answers. This story will continue until we can trust our body’s ability to keep us healthy and be willing to take responsibility for the actions we take that determine our level of health.
Hundreds of years ago evil spirits were believed to be the cause of illness and medicine men, with their chants and rituals would drive them away. By late nineteen hundreds, allopathic medicine with their application of “science” replaced these ceremonial healers. They became our saviors. They told us the cause of disease was bacteria. By the 1950’s bacteria did not threaten our existence as much because the ‘better living through chemistry age’ spurred antibiotics to save us. Then viruses became our new external evil to keep us in a state of fear and in need of being saved. Today faulty DNA is getting the attention and again we are promised complete health forever with gene splicing and cloning technology just around the corner. In our society, most people have an underlying fear of getting a disease. They have an internal dialog saying, “What can I do to keep from getting sick?” This sets us up for something like immunization, flu, and allergy shots to remedy a sense of safety.
I suggest that you should be afraid of not staying healthy. Then you might say,” What can I do to stay healthy?” From this prospective you would seek solutions like eating right, exercising and getting network adjustments to maintain a healthy nervous system. Otherwise, you will run around all your life from one health crises to another hoping you are lucky enough to not get sick. I see Clint Eastwood holding a hypodermic needle saying, “Do you feel lucky?” The premise of immunizations is that vaccines are going to “improve” our immune system by fooling it into producing antibodies the same way contracting the real disease would have done.
As you will see later in this article, it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature. Lets take a closer look at what the scientist of modern technology came up with to upgrade the human immune system. The following is a partial list of the ingredients used to inject directly into a infant: heavy metals like mercury and aluminum, pus from sores of diseased animals, horse and calf serum, fecal matter, urine, macerated cancer cells, formaldehyde and phenol (both are carcinogens), foreign animal tissues containing genetic material (DNA/RNA) and cells from other diseased children. With this bizarre solution the body showed some improvement from infectious diseases. Which is the main argument used by supporters of immunization. A closer look tells a different story. The early success of vaccines was in 1796 with the first inoculation for smallpox. But this came at a time when the root causes of health were not realized. Poverty, malnutrition, water contaminated by human and animal waste, and spoiled food were common in those days. This overall unhealthy environment was a shoe in for the vaccine to work like a miracle cure. It saved a lot of lives and deserves credit. But it is a mistake to assume that your immune system could not protect you against infectious diseases when given the proper environment to fully function. According to the British Association for the Advancement of Science, childhood diseases decreased 90% between 1850 and 1940 due to improved sanitation and hygienic practices, well before mandatory vaccination programs. The same thing happened with antibiotics. Penicillin, at first, seemed like the miracle cure but, because of overuse, the infectious agents have become resistant while our immune system got lazy and weak.
Today antibiotics have become one of the leading causes of disease. Our incessant need to constantly control the body’s healing expressions by automatically intervening in the process instead of letting nature take it’s course has weaken the body’s ability to stay healthy over the long haul. There is evidence that when a child contracts measles naturally, the recovery sets up immunity to asthma, allergies, and eczema. Getting vaccinated circumvents this natural process and asthma, an autoimmune disorder and allergic condition, now tops the list of chronic respiratory diseases in children in Western societies. Diabetes, the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S., is clearly linked to the pertussis and hepatitis B vaccines. Today, 1 in 1,000 children are diagnosed as autistic, making autism more prevalent among children than cancer, multiple sclerosis, or cystic fibrosis and this increased incidence happened after the DPT and MMR vaccine. Signs of demyelinating disease, measurable loss of IQ, loss of stamina, intractable pain, blindness, skin lesions, and other problems affecting health care workers increased 273% between 1987 to 1998, following their hepatitis B vaccinations. We could go on spouting volumes of case studies clearly showing that the use of vaccines to protect us from infectious disease is undermining the over all health of mankind. Check out the web site for that.
In conclusion, based on the evidence I have read and my core principles regarding health and disease, my opinion is that vaccinations are unhealthy for the individual and for the existence of mankind. But I do not necessarily recommend that everyone not vaccinate. To not vaccinate your child comes with a great responsibility and commitment to be as healthy as you can be and to trust the healing process even when it gets scary. And it usually does. Your view of health needs to understand that getting sick is a part of staying healthy. Illness is a messenger to experience your body and gain self-discovery. This is exactly what the research in the field of psychoneuroimmnity indicates. When the body feels, its immune system learns how to perform better.
In other words, you have to feel it to heal it.
